No Break in COVID-19 Cases: 11 More in Gyeongnam... Infection Routes in Jinju, Gimhae, Changwon, and Geoje Still Unclear (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] An additional 11 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Jinju, Gimhae, Changwon, and Geoje in Gyeongnam, where mass infections occurred.
As of 5 p.m. on the 7th, Gyeongnam Province announced that 11 confirmed cases occurred: 4 in Jinju, 3 in Gimhae, 2 in Changwon, and 2 in Geoje.
Among the 4 cases in Jinju, 3 are related to infections from the village headmen training session. A woman in her 60s and a woman in her 70s, who were contacts of case number 514, tested positive and were classified as cases 728 and 729, respectively. A man in his 60s was infected by case 728 and classified as case 727.
The remaining one is a man in his 50s who tested positive after contact with a confirmed patient from Daegu and was classified as case 730.
In Gimhae, a man in his 40s who had contact with a confirmed patient from Busan tested positive and was classified as case 731. Also, a man in his 50s who entered from Russia tested positive and was classified as case 725.
One more confirmed case related to the Gimhae elderly day care center was added. An woman in her 80s, who had contact with case 681, was classified as case 724, increasing the related confirmed cases to 29. The infection route remains unclear.
In Changwon, two additional confirmed cases related to a music academy were reported. Two women in their 50s who had contact with case 720, confirmed the previous day, tested positive and were classified as cases 732 and 733. This brings the total confirmed cases related to the music academy to 8. The infection route is still unclear.
Two more confirmed cases related to the Geoje shipyard were added. A woman in her 40s, a contact of case 714 confirmed the previous day, tested positive and was classified as case 726. Also, a man in his 60s, a contact of case 715, was infected and classified as case 734. This brings the total confirmed cases related to the shipyard to 14. The shipyard has been shut down since the 5th due to employees testing positive.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to 731 (238 hospitalized, 492 discharged, 1 deceased).
