Bearing Asset Management Selected as a 'Family-Friendly Management Certified Company'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Global asset management company Baring Asset Management announced on the 7th that it has been selected as a ‘Family-Friendly Certified Company,’ becoming the first foreign asset management firm to receive this certification.
The Family-Friendly Certification system is a program where the Minister of Gender Equality and Family grants certification to companies and public institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly systems such as △support for childbirth and child-rearing △flexible working hours system △creation of a family-friendly workplace culture.
Baring Asset Management was recognized for introducing and operating various systems to harmonize employees’ work and family life. They actively implemented flexible working systems such as selective working hours and have been flexibly applying remote work this year. The average annual leave utilization rate is also high at 85%.
Policies considerate of pregnant employees and those with children also received high evaluations. Baring Asset Management hires substitute personnel to reduce working hours during pregnancy and supports employees in actively using maternity leave and parental leave. Additionally, they operate systems to promote interaction among employees, such as establishing social clubs where employees can enjoy various cultural activities together.
The proportion of female employees at Baring Asset Management is 53%, exceeding half. This is a notable figure in the financial investment industry, which traditionally has a low proportion of women. According to the ‘2018 Basic Statistics Analysis and Supply-Demand Forecast of Financial Personnel,’ the overall female ratio in the asset management and trust industry is about 28.5%.
