[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] As the police conduct large-scale drunk driving crackdowns during the year-end and New Year period, it has been revealed that drunk driving on electric kickboards has also been detected.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 7th, a total of 5 cases of kickboard drunk driving were caught in Seoul from the 24th of last month until the day before. Four cases were at the 'license suspension' level with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.03% or higher, and one case was at the 'license cancellation' level with 0.08% or higher.
In particular, the number of accidents involving kickboards and similar vehicles from January to November this year totaled 351 cases, more than double compared to the same period last year (120 cases).
Additionally, the police are accelerating investigations into the spread of fake news related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and personal information leaks. The police have concluded investigations on 29 cases and sent 17 suspects to the prosecution with indictments.
