Mayor Kwon said, "I apologize for leaving my post amid numerous pressing issues and causing concern to the citizens of Daegu," adding, "I also thank Deputy Mayors Yang (Administration and Economy) for their efforts to prevent any administrative gaps in preparation for the third wave of COVID-19."
He continued, "The reason Daegu is maintaining stability despite the nationwide resurgence is due to citizen-participatory quarantine measures and the normalization of the 'Mask SseuGO Movement,' where citizens actively participate as the main agents of quarantine," emphasizing, "Let us devote ourselves to early detection of infection sources through proactive diagnostic testing and to economic quarantine efforts to protect the livelihoods of ordinary people."
