Busan Gijang Ilgwang Beach Scenic View Boosts Coastal Walkway Development
Gijang-gun Secures 400 Million Won Special Grant for Maintenance of Ilgwang Beach to Hak-ri Trail
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The coastal walkway maintenance project between Ilgwang Beach and Hak-ri in Gijang-gun, Busan is set to begin in earnest.
Gijang-gun has secured 400 million KRW in special local government grants for regional issues in the second half of the year for this project.
The walkway between Ilgwang Beach and Hak-ri is a popular spot for many tourists to enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery following the opening of the Donghae Nambu Line Ilgwang Station.
A Gijang-gun official said, "With this special grant, we will maintain the coastal walkway between Ilgwang Beach and Hak-ri, where forest and sea harmonize, providing a safe resting space for residents and Busan citizens exhausted from COVID-19."
Accordingly, the promotion of regional issue projects in Gijang-gun will gain momentum.
Earlier, in September, Gijang-gun was declared a special disaster area due to severe damage caused by a typhoon, securing 5.3 billion KRW in national funds.
This year, Gijang-gun secured a total of 1.629 billion KRW in special grants, including 400 million KRW for disaster safety, 200 million KRW for the Majimaeul district unit plan road construction, 500 million KRW for urban planning road construction between Cheongganggyo and Wansagyo, and 400 million KRW for the maintenance of the walkway between Ilgwang Beach and Hak-ri.

Gijang-gun plans to continuously discover regional issue projects closely related to residents' lives and strengthen prevention-centered safety. It will also actively respond to securing national and city funds such as special grants.
