In his appeal to the residents, Governor Myeong stated, “As we enter the winter season, COVID-19 is rapidly spreading nationwide, and the third large wave is becoming a reality. Therefore, we will strongly enforce the social distancing level 1.5 quarantine measures.”
He especially urged residents to “reflect once again on whether we have been neglecting basic rules such as wearing masks, as Haenam has maintained a COVID-19 clean area despite increasing fatigue from over a year of quarantine efforts and growing complacency about infection risks.”
He continued, “Complacency can be the main cause of COVID-19 spread, so it is important to follow basic rules such as social distancing, wearing masks anytime and anywhere when going out, and getting tested promptly if suspicious symptoms appear.”
He also requested, “Please refrain from going out and visiting other regions, and send greetings for year-end gatherings such as farewell parties via phone or SNS in a non-face-to-face manner.”
Furthermore, he emphasized, “As cases of confirmed patients visiting Haenam have been frequently occurring recently, businesses and shops must strictly comply with operational rules such as wearing masks inside the premises and keeping visitor logs to protect the safety of the local community.”
