Mokpo Island Senior Welfare Center Conducts Love Kimchi Sharing Event
Gwangju Bank Yongdang-dong Branch Donates Sponsorship Funds to 49 Elderly Living Alone
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] The Mokpo E-Land Senior Welfare Center (Director Kang Ju-ho), operated by the social welfare corporation E-Land Welfare Foundation (Chairman Park Sung-kyung), announced on the 4th that it held a Love Kimchi Sharing event for elderly living alone over two days from the 2nd to the 3rd.
This kimchi sharing event was conducted with sponsorship funds provided by Gwangju Bank Yongdang-dong Branch (Branch Manager Choi Kwang-seok), delivering 49 boxes of 5kg kimchi to 49 elderly individuals living alone in the local area during the cold winter.
In particular, this year, due to the longest rainy season and poor crop yields, the price of cabbage surged sharply, resulting in a 48% increase in kimchi-making costs compared to the previous year based on 20 heads of cabbage, making this sharing event expected to be a great help to the elderly.
Branch Manager Choi Kwang-seok said, “We organized the Love Kimchi Sharing to support elderly people who will face a difficult winter due to various social circumstances,” and added, “We will continue to actively carry out sharing activities for marginalized neighbors in the community.”
Director Kang Ju-ho expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank Branch Manager Choi Kwang-seok and the staff of Gwangju Bank Yongdang-dong Branch for sponsoring the Love Kimchi Sharing,” and added, “Through this sharing, we hope to support the improvement of the dietary life of elderly living alone and that they can warmly overcome the difficult times caused by COVID-19.”
