Lotte Mart Holds Promotion Event for Highland Potatoes
Limited Sale of 480 Boxes at Over 30 Stores in the Seoul Metropolitan Area from the 4th to 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Lotte Mart announced on the 4th that it will hold the ‘Gangwon-do B+ Pyeongchang Potato Promotion’ until the 9th.
The Dubaek potatoes from Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, are a representative variety with high starch content, commonly used for frying or making potato chips. This variety is generally shipped as food ingredients, but this year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), overall consumption has decreased, causing difficulties for farmers.
Lotte Mart planned this event to help the struggling production areas and offer products to customers at affordable prices. The Gangwon-do B+ Pyeongchang potatoes introduced this time have slight blemishes on the surface but are of the same quality as normal products and are about 50% cheaper.
The products will be sold at 198 won per 100g, limited to 480 boxes, at about 30 major Lotte Mart stores including Seoul Station and Ansan branches.

Choi Deok-su, Lotte Mart’s vegetable MD (Merchandiser), said, “We prepared this event not only to coexist with the production areas but also to offer products at prices that are affordable for customers,” adding, “We will continue to strive to help both the production areas and customers exhausted by COVID-19.”
