[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The U.S. Department of Defense has placed China's largest semiconductor foundry (contract manufacturing) company SMIC and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on the blacklist.
On the 3rd, the Department of Defense also designated China International Electronic Commerce Center Group (CIECC) and construction technology company CCT as targets of sanctions, in addition to SMIC and CNOOC.
The Department of Defense identified these companies as being controlled by the People's Liberation Army of China.
Once on the blacklist, U.S. companies must obtain special government approval to conduct business with these firms.
