Eonju Lee: "If Elected Mayor of Busan, I Will Establish YS Memorial Hall... Must Weed Out Fake Democratization Forces"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former lawmaker Lee Eon-ju announced that if she becomes the mayor of Busan, she plans to establish a YS (former President Kim Young-sam) memorial hall in Busan.
On the 3rd, during a lecture at the 'Towards a Better World' forum (Mapo Forum), a gathering of current and former lawmakers, Lee stated, "If elected as mayor of Busan, I plan to establish a YS memorial hall in Busan, YS's stronghold, to reexamine YS's spirit of democratization."
She said, "The current Korean society, which has caused incidents like the Yoon Seok-yeol and Chu Mi-ae affair, is facing a crisis of democracy," adding, "We need to calmly analyze the democratization movement of the 1980s again and re-evaluate and reestablish the YS faction and DJ (former President Kim Dae-jung) faction among the democratization forces by separating them from the 'fake democratization activist forces.'"
Lee said, "We must shift towards expanding the front that protects liberal democracy from the people's dictatorship forces that are destroying the constitutional spirit of (liberal) democracy," and "Depending on the stance taken in light of the Yoon-Chu affair regarding whether the Democratic Party of Korea, which was based on the DJ democratization forces, has ultimately become a people's democracy force, DJ's historical evaluation also stands at a crossroads."
Lee pointed out that because the 'protection of liberal democracy' was not established as a grand principle during the three-party merger, the party has been shaken and swayed by fake democratization forces, saying, "The Moon Jae-in loyalist forces have donned armbands and are rampaging as if they have found their world, undermining legal order and public authority, which itself is a 'dictatorial phenomenon,' and it is the activist forces like the past PD and NL who have seized power and are dictating."

She continued, "The behavior of the Moon administration, according to our constitutional spirit, is typically the omission of 'liberal' before 'democracy,' and now South Korea is heading not towards democracy but towards factional dictatorship, people's dictatorship, and not a free market economy but socialism," adding, "We must expand the front protecting liberal democracy and weed out the fake democratization forces."
