[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The global university student eSports tournament, ‘IEF 2020 International eSports Festival in Gangnam,’ was held on the 28th and 29th of last month.
Now in its 16th edition, this tournament is officially sponsored by the governments of Korea and China, and is held alternately in Korea and China each year.
Unlike previous years when players from various countries gathered in one place, this year it was conducted in an on-tact format to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Teams from 20 countries competed locally, and in the ‘League of Legends’ category, Korea’s Jeonnam Science University ‘CTU Logos’ team won the championship.
The district installed individual partitions at the VSG Arena where Korean players competed, conducted full-body disinfection, and operated the matches safely.
