ISO 45001 is a standard specification for occupational health and safety management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
KOSHA-MS is a domestic standard certification from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. It is awarded to workplaces that have established a safety accident prevention system based on the 'P (Plan) - D (Do) - C (Check) - A (Act)' cycle.
The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute first jointly obtained the 'OHSAS / KOSHA 18001' (international/domestic occupational health and safety management system certification) in 2015 and has maintained the certification for five years.
They have been operating the comprehensive safety information system called 'Laboratory Safety Information Network,' establishing standard guidelines related to laboratory safety, and managing laboratories, chemical substances, and health checkups in an integrated manner.
This certification requires a higher level of occupational health and safety management compared to the existing OHSAS / KOSHA 18001.
Accordingly, the institute has established an 'Occupational Health and Safety Policy' that prioritizes safety above all. They have formulated standard guidelines for laboratory safety tailored to the characteristics of over 560 internal research laboratories and have conducted risk assessments at the laboratory unit level.
