Chungnam Establishes Foundation for 'Shared Use of Research Institution Equipment' by SMEs
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) jointly utilize expensive equipment owned by local research institutions.
The province announced on the 2nd that it has established and is operating the "Chungnam Research and Development Equipment System (cn-jangbi.or.kr)," which integrates and manages equipment information owned by research institutions in the area and supports local SMEs in using the equipment.
Previously, the province developed this system over about two years and completed building a database of 2,723 pieces of equipment (each costing over 30 million KRW) owned by 33 research institutions in the region during this period.
Among these, 516 pieces of equipment from 9 institutions will be available for use by local SMEs starting at the end of this year. Following that, 8 more institutions will join the shared usage early next year, allowing SMEs to use their equipment as well.
The 17 institutions participating in this shared equipment usage will also sign a business agreement with Chungnam Technopark on the 8th.
The province expects that the shared use of equipment will help SMEs, which have faced difficulties in product development due to the burden of purchasing expensive equipment.
