Professor Choi Han-cheol of Chosun University Appointed as the 26th President of the Korean Dental Materials Society
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chosun University announced on the 1st that Professor Choi Han-cheol of the College of Dentistry was elected as the 26th president of the Korean Dental Materials Society.
Professor Choi was elected as president at the Korean Dental Materials Society's regular general meeting held online on the 27th of last month, and his term is two years, from 2021 until December 31, 2022.
The Korean Dental Materials Society, founded in 1966, is the longest-established academic society under the Korean Dental Association. It contributes to the localization of dental materials, as well as the promotion, prevention, and treatment of oral health for the public through the development and research of dental materials. It has also advanced the field of dental materials science through exchanges with foreign academic societies.
In particular, the society provides dental materials-related information to researchers and clinicians and promotes academic activities by publishing the Korean Dental Materials Society Journal four times a year, featuring research results related to dental materials.
Professor Choi, who majored in dental materials science, has been working at Chosun University since 2003, focusing his research on the development of dental materials and bioactive surface modification. He has also served as a visiting professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan and the College of Dentistry at Ohio State University in the United States.

Professor Choi expressed his thoughts, saying, “Based on my experience as president of the Korean Society for Surface Engineering, I will actively promote academic activities and material development through collaboration among universities, clinicians, research institutes, and companies, using this opportunity to advance the Korean Dental Materials Society to the next level.”
