View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 1st that it will promote a 'Special Public Contest for the Regeneration of Dangerous Buildings' to renovate dangerous buildings as part of urban regeneration recognition projects.
The contest targets D and E grade houses, commercial buildings, etc., located in declining areas or areas lacking basic living infrastructure within urban regions nationwide.
The project types are divided into public purchase type and public participation type depending on the degree of public involvement such as local governments and the project method.
The public purchase type is a project where local governments, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), etc., purchase and demolish dangerous buildings that affect the safety of local residents and then create community facilities for residents.
The public participation type is a project where, if it is difficult for the owners of dangerous buildings such as multi-unit buildings with two or more owners to renovate by themselves, local governments participate as implementers to support tenant relocation measures and resettlement.
This contest will be conducted as an 'recognition project,' a type of urban regeneration project that can be implemented quickly. Urban regeneration recognition projects provide national funding by recognizing small-scale point projects as urban regeneration projects without establishing an urban regeneration activation plan.
Applications from local governments will be accepted from the 21st of this month until February 8th of next year, and after an evaluation process, the selection results will be announced at the end of March next year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold an online briefing session on the 10th and operate a dedicated consulting team within the Urban Regeneration Support Organization during the application and reception period.
Details on the application form and consulting guidance can be found on the Urban Regeneration Comprehensive Information System website.
