China Chongqing SK Hynix Factory Resumes Production
All COVID-19 Test Results Negative
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] The SK Hynix factory in Chongqing, China, which had been halted due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), has resumed production.
According to the WeChat (Chinese version of KakaoTalk) account of the Chongqing municipal authorities on the 1st, all COVID-19 virus test results for SK Hynix factory employees and the surrounding environment came back negative, and under the premise of implementing quarantine measures, the factory has restarted operations.
Previously, Chongqing authorities announced that one SK Hynix employee of Korean nationality departed for Korea via Chengdu, Sichuan Province at 10 p.m. on the 26th, and was diagnosed as asymptomatic infected at Incheon Airport on the 28th.
Following this, Chongqing authorities suspended factory operations and conducted infection tests on about 3,200 employees.
The factory is known to account for approximately 40% of SK Hynix's NAND flash production.
Chongqing authorities stated, "SK Hynix reported that the employee who was diagnosed as asymptomatic infected tested negative on the second test," and added, "As of the day before, all tests of about 8,000 people, including 55 close contacts, were negative."

They also added that all 674 samples collected from the factory and the hotel where the employee stayed tested negative.
