Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts 'New Recruit Training' for Prospective Firefighters
12-Week Basic Competency and Practical Training for Firefighters
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) Fire Education Unit announced on the 30th that it has started the training course for the ‘7th New Appointees’ who will be responsible for safety in the Jeonnam region.
A total of 159 prospective firefighters enrolled on this day will receive 12 weeks of basic training and practical education necessary for disaster site activities (fire suppression, rescue, first aid) as new fire officers until February 19 next year.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the health status of all trainees, including cough and fever, was checked upon admission, and quarantine guidelines were strictly followed, such as placing hand sanitizers throughout the building.
Trainees who complete the training will be appointed as official fire officers and assigned to frontline fire stations to work in various fields such as fire, rescue, and emergency medical services.
Chief Ma Jaeyoon said, “I ask for the best efforts of not only the staff but also the trainees to create a safe educational environment amid the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “I hope they become fire officers who protect and take responsibility for the lives and property of the residents through the prescribed training course.”
