[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has established a support plan for test-takers in preparation for the '2021 College Scholastic Ability Test' on December 3rd and has taken proactive measures to assist them.
On the day of the CSAT, a total of 3,339 test-takers will take the exam at seven testing sites in Gwangjin-gu, including Konkuk University High School, Gwangnam High School, and Jayang High School.
As this is a large-scale exam conducted amid the COVID-19 situation, the district plans to do its best to support the convenience of test-takers and ensure they can take the exam comfortably in a safe environment.
Mask Support to Prevent COVID-19 Infection
The district provided a total of 25,000 masks, 10 masks per person, to 2,500 third-year high school students at nine local schools so that students can become the main agents of quarantine by wearing masks.
The masks will be delivered to each school and distributed to students on December 2nd, the day of the preliminary gathering.
Additionally, a total of 163,000 dental masks, 200 masks per facility, will be distributed to 815 learning facilities frequently visited by test-takers for their studies, including academies, private tutoring centers, reading rooms, and study cafes.
Proactive Special Inspections of Multi-use Facilities for Test-takers' Safety
Since November 19th, the district has been conducting special intensive inspections of multi-use facilities such as learning and cultural facilities and restaurants frequently used by test-takers.
First, mask-wearing and compliance with quarantine rules are being checked at 815 learning facilities, including 411 academies, 329 private tutoring centers, 36 reading rooms, and 39 study cafes. For group rooms in study cafes, the number of people is limited to 50% of capacity, and operations are suspended after 9 p.m.
Furthermore, continuous checks on compliance with quarantine rules are conducted at 444 cultural facilities, including 341 karaoke rooms, 98 PC rooms, and 5 movie theaters, which test-takers are likely to visit after the exam, as well as 5,707 restaurants. For businesses restricted from operating after 9 p.m., operation status is closely monitored.
Transportation Support and Noise Prevention Measures for Test-takers on Exam Day
On the day of the exam, from 6 a.m. to 8:10 a.m., the district will operate the 'Test-taker Transportation Support Situation Room' to oversee emergency transport support for test-takers and traffic conditions near the exam sites.
First, 15 administrative vehicles from community service centers will be stationed at six major subway stations to support emergency transport of test-takers if needed. Additional support vehicles will be deployed along routes to exam sites to assist test-takers who find public transportation inconvenient or ambiguous and walk to the sites.
Also, village buses will be dispatched intensively from 6 a.m. to 8:10 a.m., with signs indicating the exam sites attached to the front of the buses and announcements guiding test-takers to help them arrive safely.
Moreover, to minimize traffic congestion around exam sites, vehicle control and illegal parking enforcement will be strengthened, and traffic management will be conducted around exam sites and intersections.
In addition, dedicated officials will provide guidance and compliance information to self-quarantined test-takers to ensure they can take the exam without inconvenience, and transportation support such as ambulances will be provided if necessary.
Alongside this, the district requested 19 construction sites near schools to suspend construction or carry out noise-free work on exam day to prevent noise disturbance to test-takers.
The third period English listening test time will be designated as the main noise control period on exam day, and patrol personnel will be assigned to strengthen patrols near construction sites.
Regular Admission Strategy Support and Mayor’s Encouragement Message
The district will hold a 'Regular Admission Strategy Entrance Explanation Session' on December 12th for test-takers who have finished the exam.
Also, on December 28th and 29th, ‘Visiting 1:1 Consulting’ will be conducted for students at four schools including Gwangnam High School, where experts will provide customized admission strategies.
Prior to this, on the 27th, Mayor Kim Seon-gap delivered a message video to offer strong support and encouragement so that test-takers can take the exam safely and comfortably.
