Promotion, Education, Guidance, and Enforcement Following the Enforcement of the Road Traffic Act Amendment
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] The amended Road Traffic Act, which prohibits overtaking school buses and requires temporary stops and slow driving when children are boarding or alighting, has been fully enforced.
The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 29th that, following the enforcement of the amended Road Traffic Act related to children's school buses from the 27th, they will promote the amendments and crack down on violations of special protection regulations for children's school buses.
The main points of the amended Road Traffic Act include ▲expansion of the scope of application for children's school buses (from 6 types to 18 types of facilities) ▲mandatory safety education for accompanying guardians ▲strengthened sanctions for violations related to school buses ▲introduction of a boarding sign for accompanying guardians ▲obligation to create, keep, and submit school bus safety operation records ▲disclosure of information related to violations of school bus operation obligations ▲and the obligation to confirm alighting for drivers without accompanying guardians.
The police plan to promote and educate about the amended Road Traffic Act for children's educational facilities until the end of December, and from January 1 next year, they will begin guidance and enforcement against violations of special protection regulations for children's school buses, as well as violations of seat belt and car seat wearing obligations.
