The Suwon District Court announced on the 29th that Kim, who was indicted for drunk driving, was sentenced to a fine of 12 million won.
Kim was indicted for driving a Carnival vehicle about 100 meters on a road in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, on August 30 at around 12:45 PM, in a state of severe intoxication with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.275%, far exceeding the license cancellation level (blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher).
Judge Kim stated, "The defendant had previously been punished with a fine for drunk driving, yet committed this DUI offense again. Considering the very high blood alcohol concentration at the time, the risk of accidents caused by it, and the purpose of the revised law which increased the statutory penalties, the nature of the crime is not light."
