Reflecting China's Commitment to Korea-China Relations and Northeast Asia Economic Cooperation
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] Wang Yi, China's State Councilor and Foreign Minister in charge of diplomacy, visited South Korea, reflecting the deepening China-Korea relations, according to Chinese state media.
On the 26th, Minister Wang, who visited South Korea, paid a courtesy call on President Moon Jae-in and discussed China-Korea relations and international issues with Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.
The Global Times commented on the 27th, "Minister Wang's visit to South Korea reflects the deepened China-Korea relations despite pressure from the United States," adding, "The economic complementarity between China and South Korea is increasing, and considering the rebound potential of the Chinese market, investment by Korean companies in China after the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to exceed previous levels," expressing a positive outlook.
The Global Times referred to the Korean product promotion fair held in Beijing on the 26th, stating, "Korean companies are seeking closer relationships with Chinese partners in the post-COVID era," and "Although Korean exporters could not participate due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the products displayed on-site still attracted the interest of Chinese consumers."
The Global Times further noted, "This event was held immediately after Minister Wang's visit to South Korea," emphasizing, "Despite COVID-19, economic and trade relations between China and South Korea have become closer."
Chinese experts also stated that Minister Wang's visit revealed the increasingly close China-Korea relations and reflected China's willingness to develop China-Korea relations and promote Northeast Asian economic cooperation.
