Korea Development Bank Publicly Requests Dialogue with Asiana Airlines Union
"To Reflect Opinions of Key Stakeholders Regarding Employment Stability"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Korea Development Bank (KDB) has requested dialogue with the Asiana Airlines labor union.
This is a response to the Asiana Airlines labor union and the Asiana Airlines pilots' union demanding to discuss the merger with Korean Air through a tripartite labor-management-government council addressing employment security issues.
On the 27th, KDB stated, "As the responsible party for implementing the current restructuring plan of the aviation industry, including the integration of the two major national airlines, we publicly request dialogue with the Asiana Airlines Labor Union, the Asiana Airlines Pilots' Union, and the Asiana Airlines Open Pilots' Union."
KDB explained, "This is to timely reflect the opinions of the key stakeholder, the Asiana Airlines unions, regarding employment stability during the upcoming investment execution next week and the subsequent Post Merger Integration (PMI) process."
Earlier, KDB announced that it would promote the integration plan of the two major national airlines while adhering to the three restructuring principles: responsible roles of major shareholders, shared sacrifices among stakeholders, and preparation of sustainable normalization measures.
