Russia Records Another Daily High of COVID-19 Cases: 25,487 New Infections
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Russia has once again set a record high.
On the 26th (local time), according to Russian health authorities, 25,487 new cases were reported across 85 regions nationwide in the past day. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed cases rose to 2,187,990. This is the sixth time since mid-month that the daily new case count has set a record high. The cumulative case count has alternated between 4th and 5th place globally with France.
The daily death toll also reached a record high. With 524 additional deaths, the total death count increased to 38,062.
Due to the severe spread and concentration of infections in Moscow, the enhanced quarantine measures, originally set to last until the 29th of this month, have been extended until January 15 of next year.

More than 30% of company employees must work remotely, and restaurants, cafes, and entertainment establishments are prohibited from operating from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Elderly people aged 65 and over and patients with underlying conditions must self-isolate, and children's playgrounds will be closed.
