30s Sentenced to 4 Years for Nude Photos and Composites of Underage Idols: "Serious Social Harm"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man who synthesized nude photos onto the faces of underage members of a famous female idol group and sold them was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
The Criminal Division 12 of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Presiding Judge Park Sang-gu) sentenced Park Mo (34) to four years in prison on the 26th for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (production and distribution of obscene materials) and other charges. The court also ordered him to complete 80 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and imposed a five-year employment restriction at child and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled.
Park was prosecuted for producing 760 photos by synthesizing the faces of members of a famous idol group with nude photos of other women in May last year and selling them on Telegram until November of the same year, earning about 10 million won. Among the victims were underage members.

The court explained, "Among the obscene materials produced and sold by the defendant, many photos and videos targeted at children and adolescents whose sexual self-determination rights have not yet been established are included," adding, "The victims suffered significant mental shock and pain from this crime." It continued, "Due to the nature of digital media, once sold, complete deletion is difficult and there is a possibility of further distribution," and explained the sentencing reason, "The defendant's crime seriously harms society by expanding and reproducing sexual perceptions that treat women as sexual objects."
