POSCO Inter, 'Pro Bono Volunteer Group' Performance Sharing Meeting Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] POSCO International held an event on the 26th in Songdo, Incheon, to present the activities of its pro bono volunteer consulting program and share the achievements of its corporate citizenship philosophy.
The pro bono volunteer group, composed of 21 employees with professional expertise in various fields such as HR, planning, finance, legal, and marketing, was launched in May and has been conducting social enterprise matching and mentoring for about six months.
In collaboration with the social enterprise "Sangsang Woori," which operates social innovation consulting projects, target companies were selected through evaluations of business models, public interest, and business suitability. The selected companies are Dodohan Collabo, Art Impact, Woof Korea, Eunhasu Art Museum, CareU, and Schoolne, totaling six companies.
POSCO International conducted a total of about 120 sessions and 230 hours of mentoring to identify the issues faced by social enterprises and provide necessary support through online and at least monthly offline exchanges.
For Art Impact, which produces and distributes products using waste resources such as discarded fishing nets and PET bottles, POSCO International connected its overseas network to secure material suppliers and supported processes necessary for product production and distribution, including reviewing supply contracts and drafting local agent agreements.
Additionally, for CareU, which develops ICT solutions for the elderly population, legal consulting on trademark registration and usage, as well as investment proposal reviews, were provided. For Schoolne, an educational content production company, support was given for intellectual property protection and contracts to assist in creating customized content for career experience.
Manager Seongjae Lee, who participated in the volunteer group activities, said, "Based on the practical experience and knowledge gained at the company, I felt the joy of growth along with the fulfillment of work through the process of solving problems faced by social enterprises." He added, "Through this performance sharing meeting, we will seek practical support directions for the growth of social enterprises and strive to spread the corporate citizenship management philosophy."
Song Yoon-il, CEO of Art Impact, expressed his participation impression, saying, "Based on the know-how, network, and broad perspective of POSCO International, we were able to receive practical advice on the problems the company faces, and it was a time full of inspiration regarding the value of coexistence and directions for implementation."
