COVID-19 Cases Reported at DX Korea, Promoted as 'K-Quarantine' Model
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] This year, an Army airborne unit member and an Army non-commissioned officer who attended 'DX KOREA 2020' (Defense Expo Korea 2020) were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Despite concerns from defense industry companies, the exhibition, which was pushed forward emphasizing K-quarantine, ultimately became a hotspot for COVID-19 spread.
According to the military on the 26th, two members of the Army airborne unit in Iksan, Jeonbuk, and one Army non-commissioned officer tested positive for COVID-19. Due to one Army non-commissioned officer, an additional non-commissioned officer in the unit was also confirmed positive.
The DXK Organizing Committee had promoted the establishment of a K-quarantine pavilion to export 'K-quarantine' and invited health and welfare officials from 13 overseas countries to showcase Korea's excellent medical system and COVID-19 response.
However, an airborne unit captain (Daejeon case 465), a sergeant (Daejeon case 466), and an Army staff sergeant tested positive. It was confirmed that they demonstrated drones at the exhibition.
