The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 26th that they have sent 22 parents suspected of obstructing business to the prosecution without detention with a recommendation for indictment.
They are accused of buying illegally leaked SAT question papers and answer sheets from 2014 until the end of last year through brokers at prices ranging from 20 million to 50 million KRW per set. It is known that the parents purchased the question papers and answer sheets created by SAT instructor B from broker A, who received the SAT questions taken out in advance from China and other countries before the exam.
Broker A exploited the time difference caused by the SAT being conducted simultaneously worldwide. On the exam day, he leaked the questions in China, created the answer sheets, and sent them so that students in Europe, who take the exam later than China, could see them in advance. Among the children of the parents who obtained the question papers from them, some are reported to have been admitted to major universities in the United States.
