[Interview③] Lee Hyun-wook "Lee Dong-hwi, Cool Reaction Saying 'Exhibition Flower Photos' Are Fun"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Hyun-wook recently shared the behind story of the viral ‘Lee Dong-hwi holding flowers photo.’
Lee Hyun-wook spoke about various topics in an interview with our publication after the conclusion of the drama 'Search' at a cafe in Seocho-dong, Seoul.
Recently, Lee Hyun-wook, along with actors Lee Je-hoon, Lee Dong-hwi, and Kim Jun-myeon (EXO Suho), showed their loyalty by visiting the photo exhibition ‘Once Upon a Time Hollywood’ by Ryu Jun-yeol, who transformed from actor to photographer. Having built a close friendship while working together since university days, they gladly responded to Ryu Jun-yeol’s invitation despite their busy schedules. Gathering in one place, they captured special moments through photos.
Lee Hyun-wook posted the photos taken at that time on Instagram, which quickly spread and became a hot topic. Unexpectedly, the center of attention was Lee Dong-hwi. Some netizens commented wittily on the photos, saying things like ‘Isn’t that Lee Dong-hwi Hong Sang-soo?’, ‘Isn’t Lee Dong-hwi the one holding flowers?’, and ‘Isn’t this Lee Dong-hwi’s exhibition?’, sparking a lot of fun and numerous discussions.
That day, Lee Hyun-wook recalled, “It was really nice to meet actors who are hard to gather in one place. While exchanging greetings, Lee Dong-hwi suggested taking a photo together, and everyone willingly stood in front of the camera.”
He continued, “Afterwards, I happily posted the photo on Instagram, and messages flooded in. Someone asked me, ‘Is Lee Dong-hwi holding flowers?’ and I laughed, saying, ‘What do you mean? Did Dong-hwi bring flowers?’”
He added, “We talked about the photo in our group chat. I wondered if Lee Dong-hwi might have been upset, so I asked him, but he was very cool about it, saying, ‘Even I think it looks like that,’ and laughed it off, saying, ‘The clothes can look like that.’ Everyone found it both absurd and funny.”
Lee Hyun-wook laughed, “Later, I told Lee Dong-hwi, ‘We should really buy flowers next time.’”
