Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Wins Order for 2 LPG Carriers Worth 116 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced on the 25th that it has signed a construction contract for two 40,000㎥ class medium-sized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers with a Singapore-based shipping company. The contract amount is 116 billion KRW.
The vessels ordered this time are 180m long, 29m wide, and 19m high, and will be built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan and delivered sequentially to the shipowner starting from September 2022.

Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering explained that the ships are equipped with LPG dual-fuel propulsion engines, enabling compliance with the strengthened International Maritime Organization (IMO) sulfur oxide emission regulations without the need for scrubbers. With this contract, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured 13 out of 14 medium-sized LPG carriers ordered worldwide since last year.
