Shinsegae Food Launches 'Olban BIG Cheese Kkokkok Chal Hotdog'... Expands Frozen Hotdog Lineup
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Shinsegae Food announced on the 25th that it has expanded its lineup of frozen hot dog ready-to-eat meals by launching the ‘Olban BIG Cheese Kkokkok Chal Hot Dog.’
The Olban BIG Cheese Kkokkok Chal Hot Dog is a product that enhances savory flavor by placing premium sausages studded with cheddar cheese inside chewy hot dog bread made with glutinous rice. In particular, the weight of the sausage made from domestically produced pork has been increased by 33% compared to the company’s existing products, allowing for a richer texture and a more satisfying fullness.
To enjoy a hot dog that is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, completely remove the packaging from the frozen hot dog and heat it in the microwave for about 1 minute, or set the air fryer to 180℃ and cook for 14 minutes. It is sold at Shinsegae Department Store as well as online malls such as SSG.com, Gmarket, Auction, and 11st, with prices of 2,500 KRW per piece (100g) and 8,380 KRW for a pack of 4 (100g x 4).

Meanwhile, according to Shinsegae Food, cumulative sales of frozen hot dog ready-to-eat meals such as ‘Olban Chal Hot Dog,’ ‘Olban Mozza Cheddar Chal Hot Dog,’ and ‘Olban Crunch Chal Hot Dog’ from January to October this year increased by 47% compared to the same period last year. Shinsegae Food analyzed that this increase in sales volume is not only due to satisfying consumers with three factors simultaneously?specialty store-level taste, easy cooking, and reasonable price?but also because the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic this year has increased demand for simple snacks that can be easily prepared and eaten at home.
