Guro-gu Selected as Top District in Seoul Eco Mileage Evaluation
Group Membership Registration, Full Score in Institution Head Interest... Received a Total Incentive of 31 Million Won This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) was selected as the best district in the second half of 2020 Seoul Eco Mileage evaluation.
With awards for both the first and second half, it will receive a total prize of 31 million KRW this year.
Seoul City evaluated the Eco Mileage operation performance from April to September for 25 autonomous districts. Scores were given based on seven categories including membership registration, member information management, interest of the head of the institution, and promotion.
Guro-gu achieved consistently good results in all categories. In particular, it received full marks in group membership registration and interest of the head of the institution.
Guro-gu carried out various activities to further activate the Eco Mileage program.
Using the district office homepage, newsletters, and bulletin boards, it promoted the system to residents and encouraged new registrations by linking with community service centers, neighborhood leaders, professional organizations, and environmental groups.
Especially this year, to prevent COVID-19, outdoor activities such as operating visiting apartment Eco Mileage booths and promoting to visitors of Anyangcheon Stream were conducted.
A Guro-gu official said, “We appreciate the active participation of residents,” and added, “We hope you will continue to actively participate in the Eco Mileage program that helps protect the environment and provides benefits.”
Eco Mileage is a resident participation program that aggregates energy usage such as electricity, water, and city gas every six months and provides incentives to individuals or groups based on reduction performance.
Mileage can be used for purchasing eco-friendly products or paying apartment management fees.
Guro-gu is continuously recruiting new Eco Mileage members.
