'Wonder Woman 1984' Hits Theaters This Winter
Release Confirmed for the 23rd of Next Month
Distributor Warner Bros. Korea announced on the 24th that the movie 'Wonder Woman 1984' will be released on the 23rd of next month. It is the sequel to 'Wonder Woman,' which recorded box office revenue of 915 billion won in 2017. Set in 1984, it depicts Wonder Woman's exploits as she encounters new enemies. Originally scheduled to be released in June, the release date was repeatedly postponed due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). With the decision to simultaneously release it in theaters and on OTT (HBO Max) in the United States, the path for domestic release has opened. It is expected to compete with Disney Pixar's 'Soul,' which is scheduled to be released this winter. Korean films releasing around the same time include 'Seobok' starring Gong Yoo and Park Bo-gum, 'Life is Beautiful' starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Yum Jung-ah, and 'Josee' starring Han Ji-min and Nam Joo-hyuk.
