Until the 27th... K-MICE and Advanced Conference Technology Demonstration Stage
Over 300 Online Consultations Between 220 Domestic Companies and Buyers from 30 Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The '2020 Korea MICE Expo' will be held from the 24th to the 27th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
The expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Incheon City, Korea Tourism Organization, and Incheon Tourism Organization, is themed 'Challenge for Innovation' and was organized to revitalize the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry, which has been weakened due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, corporate consultations and exhibitions will be conducted online, while the opening ceremony and international conferences will be held on-site in compliance with quarantine guidelines.
At the opening ceremony, Karen Chupka, Vice President of the International Consumer Electronics Show, will give a lecture under the theme 'New Experiences, Expansion of Possibilities.' Advanced conference technologies such as guide robots, facial recognition technology, and 3D stereoscopic photo demonstrations will also be showcased in response to the surge in demand for non-face-to-face meetings.
At the international conference held on the 24th and 25th, experts from IT companies including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon Web Services Korea, as well as major domestic technology companies and academic society officials, will participate to discuss trends in the MICE industry.
During the event, about 220 domestic MICE industry companies and 300 buyers from 30 countries will participate in real-time video consultations.
An Incheon MICE promotional hall is also prepared. Although it is a virtual promotional hall, it is designed to showcase Incheon's MICE resources and various attractions.
The Korea MICE Expo is a representative domestic MICE expo, with Incheon City and the Incheon Tourism Organization securing consecutive hosting rights from 2018 to 2022.
Park Namchun, Mayor of Incheon, stated, "Incheon City is expanding the role of the MICE Support Center, operating the Incheon Tourism and MICE Forum, and supporting hybrid MICE to help the MICE industry, which has been hit by COVID-19." He added, "For this expo, we have introduced the country's first 'Clean Incheon Entry Certification System' to ensure the event is held safely by strictly implementing quarantine guidelines."
