Haenam-gun Selected for Pilot Project of Agricultural Food Voucher Program
Secured 1.068 Billion KRW in National Funds to Provide Food Plan-Linked Vouchers for Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been selected for the 2021 Agricultural Food Voucher Pilot Project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing 1.068 billion KRW in national funding. It was the only region in Jeollanam-do to be selected, and as a food plan leading local government designated by the Ministry, it is expected to gain momentum in supplying healthy food.
According to Haenam-gun on the 24th, the Agricultural Food Voucher Support Pilot Project is a program that provides agricultural food vouchers to expand food security for vulnerable groups in connection with the regional food plan.
Applicants from households with income below 50% of the median income will receive vouchers worth 40,000 KRW per month for one year based on a single-person household, which can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, white milk, and fresh eggs at local food direct stores and other agricultural product distribution stores within the region.
With the selection for the project, it is expected that about 6,300 recipients and low-income households below 50% of the median income in Haenam-gun will benefit.
