'Minari' Wins Awards at US Film Festivals
Denver International Film Festival Audience Award and Best Acting Award
Director Lee Isaac Chung's film "Minari" continued its winning streak at American film festivals. According to distributor Pan Cinema on the 24th, it recently won the Audience Award and Best Actor Award (Steven Yeun) at the Denver International Film Festival. Previous recipients of the Audience Award at this festival, such as "Green Book" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," went on to win at the Academy Awards. "Minari" had earlier received the Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, the Audience Award and Actor's Guild Award at the Middleburg Film Festival, the Audience Award and Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award at the Heartland Film Festival. It has also been honored with a Special Award at the Deauville Film Festival, Best Actress Award at the Gotham Awards, and was nominated for Best Film at the Valladolid Film Festival. "Minari" is a drama depicting the story of a Korean-American family who immigrated to Arkansas in the 1980s. The film stars Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Youn Yuh-jung, and Alan Kim.
