Russia Reports Over 25,000 New COVID-19 Cases in a Single Day

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Russia's daily new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) exceeded 25,000 on the 23rd (local time).
Russian authorities announced that "25,173 new confirmed cases were reported nationwide across 85 regions in one day," and "the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 2,115,402."
New confirmed cases included 6,866 in the capital Moscow and a record high of 2,926 in the second-largest city, Saint Petersburg. The number of deaths also increased by 361 in one day, bringing the total to 36,540.

The number of new confirmed cases has already broken the highest record five times since mid-this month. The cumulative number of confirmed cases ranks fifth in the world, following the United States, India, Brazil, and France.
