Public Shopping, 7-Day '2020 Kimchi Shopping Festa'
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Gongyoung Shopping announced that it will hold the '2020 Kimchi Shopping Festa' for one week starting from the 23rd.
Popular brands 'Domisol Kimchi' and 'Kim Sunja Master Kimchi' are offering kimchi made with 'Kimjang recipes' limited to the kimjang season. Domisol Kimchi includes whole black sand flatfish salted fish from Heuksando and adds ground domestic shrimp and squid for umami flavor. Kim Sunja Master Kimchi uses fresh shrimp salted fish and sweetens it with fruits such as persimmon, apple, and pear.
Regional kimchi is also prepared. 'Maisan Kimchi' offers Jeollado-style kimchi with umami flavor by adding ground dried chili peppers and dried shiitake mushroom powder to glutinous rice porridge made by hand. 'Areumchan Kimchi' recreates crunchy Jungbu-style kimchi by lightly salting fresh napa cabbage.
In addition, delicacies such as 'Ganghwa Turnip Kimchi' and 'Yeosu Mustard Leaf Kimchi' are also available.
To celebrate Kimchi Day, an event is being held where 10% of the payment amount is provided as reward points.
According to Gongyoung Shopping's sales analysis, packaged kimchi sales have surpassed 47.5 billion KRW (based on order amount) up to October this year. This is an 85% increase compared to the same period last year (25.6 billion KRW).

Gongyoung Shopping interprets that the demand for packaged kimchi has increased due to the sharp rise in kimjang costs caused by the unusually long rainy season and typhoons this year, as well as the home meal trend driven by COVID-19.
