KT Supports Youth Rural Settlement with ICT Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 22nd that it will collaborate with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Uiseong-gun to support ICT infrastructure to help young people in the Uiseong-gun Angye-myeon Neighbor Village pilot village settle in rural areas.
KT will apply ICT solutions such as 5G networks and 10-gigabit internet to the village's education, culture, and housing. The purpose is to help young farmers who wish to settle in the Neighbor Village pilot village realize their digital nomad lifestyle.
First, KT transformed Angye Elementary School into a ‘10GiGA AI School’ to alleviate one of the biggest concerns of young people preparing to settle in rural areas: their children's education. Students at Angye Elementary School can now engage in various activities at school using AI, VR, and 10-gigabit network technologies.
Students are supported with AI learning tools capable of software coding classes, KT Super VR equipped with Cheonjae Education’s curriculum learning content, and the educational screen sport KT Real Cube. Additionally, teachers can conduct immersive remote video education using the 10-gigabit internet environment established throughout the school and AR smartboards.
The 10GiGA AI School is part of the ‘10-gigabit Internet Activation Promotion Project’ led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency.
‘Kkuljam Charging Station’ enhances cultural accessibility for village youth by introducing KT’s media solutions. The Kkuljam Charging Station includes an Olleh TV private cinema, a home training mini gym, and an MR play zone.
Furthermore, the Yonggiri Village Park in Angye-myeon now features the ‘KT Mind Rest Area’ equipped with IoT technology. The rest area includes 5G-based Wi-Fi, an intelligent emergency bell (SMAC), and a nano photocatalyst air purifier linked to the KT air quality platform.
