[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it was selected as the ‘Best Institution’ in the cadastral resurvey category in the ‘2020 Land and Cadastral Management Work Evaluation’ hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Land and Cadastral Management Work Evaluation is conducted annually by the city to evaluate overall land and cadastral work, select and commend excellent institutions (public officials), boost morale, share best practices, and implement user-centered customized land management policies.

This year’s evaluation assessed the performance related to land and cadastral work carried out by 25 autonomous districts in Seoul from November last year to September this year, divided into five areas: ▲land policy ▲real estate appraisal ▲real estate management ▲spatial surveying ▲cadastral resurvey.

The district achieved the best institution award among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul in the cadastral resurvey field by promoting the cadastral resurvey project and the project to organize the status of areas with cadastral boundary discrepancies.

In particular, for efficient land management, 56 parcels located in Hwagok-dong, where the actual status of the land and the registered details in the cadastral register did not match, were designated as a ‘cadastral resurvey project district.’ The district conducted several individual interviews with landowners and received consent from more than 68%, demonstrating proactive administration, which was highly evaluated.

Additionally, efforts to improve work, such as proposing amendments to the Enforcement Decree of the Special Act on Cadastral Resurvey to improve the method of calculating the number of landowners and consenters, were also highly appreciated.

Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “I am very honored to receive a good evaluation in cadastral work directly related to the property rights of residents,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide high-quality cadastral civil services.”

Last year, the district won the bronze prize at the 2019 Civil Service System Improvement Best Practice Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the case of ‘Providing convenience to civil complaints, one-stop approval for surveying application and land movement.’
