Employee A of Nonghyup Central Association identified suspicious transactions continuing at the ATM of Hyeongok Nonghyup branch during telecommunication financial fraud monitoring on the 4th, and through employee B of Shingeumjang Branch, inquired about the reason for the transaction from C, the remittance agent who was making deposit transactions on site.
When C failed to present a clear reason for the transaction and spoke incoherently, A, suspecting something suspicious, requested B to report to the police, and remittance agent C was caught on site by detectives from the Gyeongju Police Station who responded to the report.
According to the police investigation, C was in the process of remitting about 19 million won in cash received from the victim under the instructions of a voice phishing organization using another person's name, and the confirmed scale of damage prevention was revealed to be at least 160 million won.
