Police Send Democratic Labor Union Officials and Others to Prosecution for Large-Scale Liberation Day Rally
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The police have forwarded the officials of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) who held a rally in downtown Seoul on Liberation Day to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
On the 20th, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment Kim Jae-ha, the emergency committee chairman of the KCTU, and other related officials on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act and the Assembly and Demonstration Act for holding a large-scale rally in downtown Seoul on Liberation Day.
On August 15, the KCTU and others held the '8.15 Workers' Rally' near Bosingak in Jongno-gu, with about 2,000 participants. At the time, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the police had prohibited the Bosingak rally along with the Gwanghwamun Square rally led by Sarang Jeil Church, but they held the rally as planned.
