Changwon Jinhae-gu, Navy Family with Elementary School Children Confirmed Positive... Total 447 Cases (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Five additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Changwon, Gyeongnam, where social distancing has been raised to level 1.5.
On the morning of the 20th at 10 a.m., Gyeongnam Province announced in a briefing that a man in his 30s living in Jinhae-gu, Changwon (Gyeongnam case 446) and his two elementary school children (cases 447 and 448), all family members, tested positive.
They are family members of case 440, who was confirmed the previous day. Case 446 is known to be in the Navy, prompting an alert at the military base in the Jinhae area.
Case 446 went to work until the morning of the 19th. The quarantine authorities and the Navy will cooperate to conduct an epidemiological investigation.
Cases 447 and 448, children of the Navy family, are students at Jangcheon Elementary School in Jinhae-gu. Both attended school until the 19th. After the mother was confirmed positive, they were tested along with their father, case 446.
The quarantine authorities plan to set up a screening clinic at Jangcheon Elementary School and classify contacts and those exposed to the movement paths for testing.
Previously, confirmed cases were reported at Ungdong Elementary, Ungdong Middle, and Ungcheon Elementary affiliated kindergarten in Jinhae-gu, and these three schools are conducting remote classes.
Along with the Navy family, a male high school student (case 449) and a woman in her 60s (case 450), both living in the same Jinhae-gu, also tested positive on the same day.
Case 449 is a family member of case 430, a student at Ungdong Middle School in Jinhae-gu confirmed the previous day, and case 450 had contact with case 433, a confirmed case related to Ungdong Elementary in Jinhae-gu.
The quarantine authorities are investigating the infection routes and contacts of these confirmed cases. Social distancing has been raised to level 1.5 in Changwon and Hadong.
The number of confirmed cases related to the middle school in Hadong-gun has increased to 26, with no additional infections overnight.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has risen to 447. Of these, 334 have been discharged and 113 are currently hospitalized.
