CJ CheilJedang Wins Presidential Award in Design Management at the Korea Design Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] CJ CheilJedang, leading 'consumer-centered design management,' is achieving tangible results by winning awards at prestigious domestic and international events.
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 20th that it received the Presidential Award in the Design Management category at the 22nd Korea Design Awards hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The Korea Design Awards are given to companies that have achieved outstanding results by driving manufacturing and service innovation through design. CJ CheilJedang was recognized for its systematic brand management and investment, leading the domestic home meal replacement (HMR) market and the globalization of K-food through design management.
Earlier, on the 11th, CJ CheilJedang won the Gold Award at the Dow Packaging Innovation Awards, an international packaging innovation prize, for its Bibigo Kimchi packaging technology. The submitted 'Bibigo Kimchi' was highly evaluated for its technology controlling fermentation gases, reducing plastic usage by 15% compared to existing packaging, and consumer convenience. CJ CheilJedang also won the same award in 2017 for the Bibigo Kimchi container.
CJ CheilJedang is the only company in the industry to have separate organizations specializing in brand design and packaging R&D, the 'Design Center' and 'Packaging Center,' leading product innovation through design.
In particular, to systematically manage and protect design assets, CJ CheilJedang developed a design value index with the Korea Management Association to understand consumer demands. It also established a separate intranet, 'IP World,' to digitize assets and protect rights in collaboration with legal officers. In fact, CJ CheilJedang showed the most proactive approach in the industry by filing 502 domestic and 361 overseas design applications last year alone. Furthermore, keeping pace with the global spread of K-food, the company is leading the implementation of advanced packaging technologies reflecting the characteristics of Korean cuisine and the development and utilization of sustainable packaging materials at a global corporate level.
