Also, in Gyeongsan City, a person in their 50s who had contact with a confirmed case from a family gathering in Cheongsong tested positive, resulting in a total of 16 new confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area within a day, including 12 local infections and 4 imported cases.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 18th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was 1,589, an increase of 16 from the previous day.
First, eight residents of Yeongdeok-gun tested positive for COVID-19 all at once the previous day at a funeral hall in Yeongdeok. Epidemiological investigations revealed that these confirmed cases had close contact with the Seoul Songpa District case number 480 at the funeral hall on the 13th. In Yeongdeok, a resident in their 50s who arrived from the United States also tested positive. With 9 additional cases on this day, the cumulative confirmed cases in Yeongdeok rose to 20.
A teenager living in Pohang City also visited the Yeongdeok funeral hall and tested positive after contact with confirmed cases (Songpa District cases 480 and 484). The cumulative confirmed cases in Pohang reached 110.
In Gyeongsan City, a citizen in their 50s who experienced body aches and muscle pain was notified of contact with a confirmed case and tested positive after examination. This citizen was identified to have had contact with a woman in her 50s (Cheongdo case number 147), who was confirmed positive after attending a family gathering in Cheongsong.
In Mungyeong City, a person in their 20s and another in their 70s were identified to have had contact with a confirmed case from the metropolitan area (Yongin case number 446) and tested positive after being examined at the Mungyeong Public Health Center. With 2 additional cases on this day, the cumulative confirmed cases in Mungyeong rose to 13.
In Gumi City (a teenager and a person in their 30s who visited Poland), Pohang (a person in their 50s who visited Japan), and Yeongdeok (a person in their 50s who visited the United States), 2, 1, and 1 imported cases were confirmed, respectively.
