Assemblyman Jo O-seop Receives 'Outstanding Member Award' for National Audit from Ministry of Land Labor Union
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Assemblyman Jo O-seop (The Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangju Buk-gu Gap) received the ‘2020 Outstanding Member of the National Assembly Award’ presented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Labor Union.
Assemblyman Jo was recognized for his contribution to administrative development and presenting a future vision in the land and transportation sector through sharp inquiries in the National Assembly. He earned the honor consecutively, following his selection as an outstanding member of the National Assembly by the Consumer Sovereignty Citizens' Association on the 10th.
This ‘2020 Outstanding Member of the National Assembly’ award holds greater significance as it is the first time the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Labor Union, among central government department unions, evaluated the national audit and selected outstanding lawmakers.
Assemblyman Jo drew attention with field-oriented inquiries directed at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including ▲measures such as standard contracts related to overwork deaths of delivery workers ▲countermeasures for the crisis of chartered vehicles in chartered bus operations ▲on-site inspection of the freight safety fare system, strengthening personnel and support for the reporting center ▲approaching the 4th National Railroad Network Plan from the perspective of national balanced development rather than economic feasibility ▲and preparing approaches to real estate policy from a long-term perspective.
He also questioned issues related to the fairness of society, such as ▲the bare face of public enterprises prioritizing profits over the people ▲contradictory promises regarding wage increases at Korail subsidiaries ▲unfairness in high school graduate recruitment through school principal recommendations ▲tax reduction benefits for large shopping malls as ‘special favors’ due to COVID-19 ▲the ‘unemployment crisis’ of duty-free shop workers behind the management difficulties of Incheon International Airport Corporation ▲and the special benefits of youth rental housing near subway stations enjoyed only by ‘private business operators’.
Along with this, Assemblyman Jo published 59 press releases, 5 policy booklets, 60 card news items, and 1 national audit report, and received favorable reviews for his promotional activities on SNS platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as over 1,300 media reports.

Assemblyman Jo said, “I believe the high evaluation was due to my efforts to open various channels to create a national audit together with the people and to better convey the voices from the field to the administration. I will continue my legislative activities standing first on the side of the people and the success of the Moon Jae-in administration not only in the national audit but also in budget and bill deliberations.”
