The event, attended by the Child Protection Agency in the province, the Jeonnam Support Group of Regional Children's Centers, the Jeonnam Child Welfare Association, and the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, was praised as an opportunity to raise public awareness of child abuse prevention and foster cooperation among related organizations in the province.
The ceremony was also attended by child protection agency staff, responsible public officials, police officers dedicated to child abuse cases, and representatives from related organizations. The program included awards for contributions to child abuse prevention, reports on the achievements of related organizations, and the child abuse eradication proclamation ceremony.
To change the perception that corporal punishment is a form of discipline, a child abuse prevention campaign was also conducted at Mokpo Station.
Until the 30th, 12,000 leaflets and 21,000 promotional items such as masks will be distributed, and a child abuse prevention relay certification photo campaign is planned.
Since 2015, the number of child abuse reports has surged nationwide, increasing from 1,052 cases in 2015 to 2,453 cases last year in the Jeonnam region.
