Rep. Yong-bin Lee Requests Defense Minister Suh Wook's Efforts on 'Military Airport Relocation Issue'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Rep. Lee Yong-bin (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangsan-gu Gap, Gwangju) requested Minister of National Defense Seo Wook on the 16th to actively engage in the issue of relocating the Gwangju military airport.
On the 17th, Rep. Lee stated, “Regarding the relocation of the military airport, the mayors and governors as well as the political circles agreed on the need to unite their hearts for coexistence between the region and residents,” and “Minister Seo confirmed his position to do his best for the relocation of the military airport.”
Along with this, he requested Minister Seo to continue honoring the Veterans Association of the Liberation Army, as the Liberation Army is the root of our armed forces, to promote the patriotic spirit of the Liberation Army, and to make efforts to eliminate pro-Japanese remnants.
As part of this, he proposed designating anti-Japanese military songs, including the Liberation Army song, as official military songs of our armed forces to be sung frequently, and taking measures to delete pro-Japanese military songs.
Furthermore, he requested that the painting "Jeokyeong" by Kim Ki-chang, which was hung and then removed from the entrance of the Ministry of National Defense building, be donated or permanently exhibited at the exhibition hall of the Institute for Korean Historical Issues to inform the public that it is a plagiarized work representing pro-Japanese anti-national art.
