Chosun University of Science and Technology Department of Food and Nutrition Culinary Arts Wins Grand Prize at International Top Chef Grand Prix
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Students from the Department of Food and Nutrition Culinary Arts at Chosun University of Science and Technology were recognized for their skills by winning major awards at a nationwide grand prix competition.
Chosun University of Science and Technology announced on the 17th that students from its Department of Food and Nutrition Culinary Arts won the grand prize (Seoul Mayor's Award) at the 17th Korea Local Food Culture Exhibition 'International Top Chef Grand Prix' held from the 13th to 15th at the aT Center 2nd Exhibition Hall in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
Now in its 17th year, this competition is a large-scale event where the development of domestic and international dietary habits and food culture, as well as global gourmet culture, can be seen in one place.
It contributes to revitalizing the agriculture, fisheries, and food industries and attracting tourists through the expansion of tourism infrastructure. It is organized as a local food culture festival where excellent local foods and cultures from across the country can be explored, aiming to globalize Korean cuisine and inherit traditions.
In this competition, students Kim Hee-yeon, Jeong Dan-bi, Noh Eun-mi, Seong Woong-bi, and Park Su-jin from the Department of Food and Nutrition Culinary Arts at Chosun University of Science and Technology participated in the live category and won the grand prize by creating a live 3-course meal using seasonal local ingredients.
Team leader Kim Hee-yeon said, “I am grateful to the school for its generous support during the preparation, to the professors who guided us, and to my teammates who worked hard and cared for each other despite the difficult preparation process. I am happy to receive such a great award and will strive to further build my professional knowledge and practical skills.”
