Jeju Island to Selectively Provide 3rd Jeju-style Disaster Relief Fund
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 16th that it has decided to urgently support the blind spots within the province that have not received government disaster relief funds by utilizing the 20 billion won disaster relief fund received from Jeju Development Corporation on the 12th.
Jeju Province plans to support within the scope of 17 billion won by selecting a total of seven sectors.
First, 1 billion won will be provided to local cultural artists and cultural arts organizations, which have been severely affected as almost all events and festivals have been canceled due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular, a total of 2.5 billion won will be provided to local travel agencies and charter bus companies facing closure due to a sharp decline in tourists, and 200 million won will be provided to general taxi drivers excluded from government support among taxi workers who are struggling to make a living due to a sharp decrease in foot traffic.
Additionally, 8.3 billion won will be provided to small business owners who complied with the gathering ban order during the Chuseok holiday period but were excluded from government support, as well as to startups established after June of this year.
Among local youth aged 19 to 34, 650 million won will be provided to unemployed youth who have received or are receiving youth self-development expenses from 2018 to this year.
Seven hundred million won will be provided to local racehorse breeding farms that have suffered significant damage due to the suspension of horse racing operations.
The remaining 3 billion won will be used for quarantine expenses at public institutions and multi-use facilities.
This emergency support fund will be distributed through application acceptance and review starting mid-month, with individual support criteria and implementation schedules prepared by the relevant departments according to the support target.
Jeju Province plans to proceed with the payment plan without delay, aiming to fully distribute the third Jeju-type emergency disaster relief fund within this year.
