Damyang-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Alcohol Harm Prevention Project
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Damyang County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 16th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 2020 local community alcohol harm prevention project excellence case evaluation.
This evaluation, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Promotion Institute, was conducted to select excellent institutions by evaluating the achievement of goals in last year's alcohol harm prevention project plans and the implementation performance by local governments nationwide, and to reward contributions to spreading a culture of moderation in the local community.
The county was highly evaluated for its efforts to reduce the local community drinking rate by providing residents with accurate information about alcohol harm and conducting multifaceted promotions according to life cycles to spread a culture of moderation in the community.
In particular, according to the local community health statistics, the county's monthly drinking rate steadily decreased from 45.4% in 2016 to 43.2% in 2018, and the high-risk drinking rate among annual drinkers also dropped by 6.1% compared to the previous year, from 24.8% in 2018 to 18.7% last year.
